The day after Midas’s operation 2nd of February
Midas 6 month old german shepherd on left was knocked down on New Year’s Day. Midas was taken to the Vets Now who looked after him for 4 days as he went through an operation to insert pins into his growth plate. Midas spent the next 4wks on cage rest. On right Midas has been given the all clear with all the movement in his leg returned to normal. Midas is a lively fun loving pup who in the past 4wks overcome the trauma of being knocked down by all the care and attention of all the staff at Vets Now.
Davinia Arnott, the Small Animal Surgery specialist who treated Midas commented:
Poor Midas presented to our OOH team on 1st January this year after being knocked down. He was immediately assessed for any life threatening injuries whilst being given strong pain killers and treated for shock. Fortunately, his most significant injury was a broken leg which we were able to repair surgically once Midas was stable enough to be anaesthetised.
His owners had the hardest job to do as once I had repaired the leg surgically using pins; Midas’s owners had to enforce a strict rest and rehabilitation program for him to have the best recovery. Being as Midas was only 6 months old at the time of the accident; this was not going to be an easy task.
I have just seen Midas, 4 weeks since he had surgery and he is making extremely good progress.
